This is what she says about
her work and techniques:
"I turn computer generated
fractal images into art quilts.
Using appliqué, embroidery,
trapunto, embellishment, fabric manipulation, couching and quilting I employ a
variety of materials such as hand painted, hand dyed fabrics, quilters cotton,
silk, velvet, silk ribbon, cotton and rayon embroidery floss, beads,
embellishments and appropriate found objects.
Each of the pieces shown has
evolved by a detailed process. Using fractal computer software I generate and
manipulate an image. The final line print is enlarged to scale onto a paper
template. Fabric colors and textures next and then the technical challenge of
cutting and stitching odd shapes together. Embellishments such as beads,
buttons, novelty yarns and found objects are attached for emphasis.
There is continual interest in
overcoming the 'how can I do this' element and the tactile aspect of the media
used adds to the interest. I want the viewer to long to touch and stroke each
piece of art."
