began her design and doll making career by exhibiting at various International
Quiltfests. It was for these fests that Barb designed doll patterns,
acquired distributors and had her work selected for trade magazines and pattern
At the present
time, Barb has more than 50 doll patterns to her credit sold under her pattern
company, The Enchanted Attic. It was at these shows where her work
was used in instructional classes, and where she was commissioned to design
dolls for the following companies:

Their wired bodies are made of
the finest quality of dyed unbleached
muslin with the exception of their legs, which are
bleached muslin to
represent white stockings. There are red
painted bands on the legs to
represent garters. Hitty's face is needle sculpted
and penned with
permanent ink fabric pens. Her tiny head is
securely sewn to a neck tab
and her black ringlets are made from curly chenille

little collector Hitty dolls were a part of the 1999 Telly Award winning
documentary "Hitty, an American Travel Doll."
Barb is a member of the National Cloth Doll Makers
Association (NCDMA), Academy of American Doll Artists, Dollabilities (her doll
club in Reeds Spring, Missouri) elinor peace bailey's, The Association of People
Who Play With Dolls (APWPWD) and Virginia Heyerdahl's "Friends of Hitty".
Her passion is the pursuit of antique treasures to be incorporated into
her beautiful collector dolls. In Barb's words, "The hunt for unique doll
making supplies is just the best! I have a necessary reason to shop in my
favorite haunts! I am never bored seeing one of my collector dolls
develop, but have great difficulty letting them leave home. I wish, no
more than that -- I pray that all of my little ladies find good homes and give
years of pleasure to their new owners."
