Barb Spencer is a multi-talented designer, cloth doll maker and freelance writer.  She began her design and doll making career by exhibiting at various International Quiltfests.  It was for these fests that Barb designed doll patterns, acquired distributors and had her work selected for trade magazines and pattern catalogs.
At the present time, Barb has more than 50 doll patterns to her credit sold under her pattern company,  The Enchanted Attic.  It was at these shows where her work was used in instructional classes, and where she was commissioned to design dolls for the following companies:
Fairfield Processing Corporation
The Emanuel Roth Company, Division of Novtex Corporation
Spiegel Fabrics
Spectrix Fabrics
Donna Gallagher, Creative Needlearts, Inc.

Their wired bodies are made of the finest quality of dyed unbleached
muslin with the exception of their legs, which are bleached muslin to
represent white stockings.  There are red painted bands on the legs to
represent garters. Hitty's face is needle sculpted and penned with
permanent ink fabric pens.  Her tiny head is securely sewn to a neck tab
and her black ringlets are made from curly chenille doll hair. Securely sewn
to doll's head.  The curls on Hitty's forehead are a combination of doll hair
and embroidery, carefully sewn with beading needles.  Hitty's black
gessoed boots are sometimes laced over tiny gold tone metal beads.  She wears lace
trimmed drop-waist underclothing and vintage looking clothing.  The
dolls are signed and come with their own doll stand  and one toy/item.
They also have certificates of authenticity.

In the last 12 years she has created her beautiful one-of-a-kind collector dolls, as well as written and illustrated books of faces for cloth dolls.  For 2 years Barb had a helpful column geared toward cloth doll makers in a national magazine.  Within the 12 years, she has seen her work published in:

Barb's collector lady dolls have been on "Home and Garden" and CBS television programs; her little collector Hitty dolls were a part of the 1999 Telly Award winning documentary "Hitty, an American Travel Doll."

Barb is a member of the National Cloth Doll Makers Association (NCDMA), Academy of American Doll Artists, Dollabilities (her doll club in Reeds Spring, Missouri) elinor peace bailey's, The Association of People Who Play With Dolls (APWPWD) and Virginia Heyerdahl's "Friends of Hitty".

Final note:  Her passion is the pursuit of antique treasures to be incorporated into her beautiful collector dolls.  In Barb's words, "The hunt for unique doll making supplies is just the best!  I have a necessary reason to shop in my favorite haunts!  I am never bored seeing one of my collector dolls develop, but have great difficulty letting them leave home.  I wish, no more than that -- I pray that all of my little ladies find good homes and give years of pleasure to their new owners."
